2 Pallet Vacuum Cooler – CC-VC-200

The Cold Change 2 Pallet Vacuum Cooler is a compact industrial vacuum cooling system designed for the rapid pre-cooling of fresh produce, vegetables, flowers and other temperature-sensitive products.

Also commonly referred to as a vacuum chiller, vacuum pre-cooler or vacuum cooling machine, the CC-VC-200 uses vacuum technology to rapidly remove field heat and product heat following harvest or production.

With capacity for 2 pallets per cooling cycle and loads of up to 800kg per pallet, this industrial vacuum chiller is ideally suited to growers, packhouses and food processors that require fast cooling without the capacity or footprint of a larger multi-pallet machine.

What Can Be Vacuum Cooled?

Different products have different cooling characteristics. Cold Change can therefore configure the vacuum chilling cyclearound the product, pallet weight, loading arrangement, starting temperature and required final temperature.

How Does Vacuum Cooling Work?

Unlike conventional air cooling, vacuum cooling does not rely solely on cold air gradually removing heat from the outside of the product.

Products are loaded into a sealed vacuum chamber and the pressure inside the chamber is reduced.

As the pressure falls, the boiling point of water also falls. A small quantity of moisture within or on suitable products begins to evaporate at a low temperature.

This evaporation absorbs heat from the product, allowing heat to be removed rapidly throughout suitable produce.

This is why a vacuum cooler or vacuum chiller can achieve extremely fast and uniform pre-cooling for certain fresh produce compared with conventional cooling methods.

Vacuum cooling is particularly suited to many mushroom applications because freshly harvested mushrooms can require rapid removal of product heat before storage, packing and transportation.
